In general, I am very resistant to anything that doesn’t feel good, taste good, smell good or sounds good; even when it comes to my health, which is my priority. I’ve always been that way. So when I learn about a new health therapy, if it doesn’t feel good, taste good or smell good, I have no interest. I’ve read a lot recently about oil pulling and people are very encouraging about their results. People claim that it can give us so many health benefits including the following:
- Improve digestion
- Relieve sinus congestion
- Prevent cavities, reduces plaque, and cures gingivitis
- Reduce joint pain and arthritis
- Whiten teeth
- Get rid of bad breath
- Eliminate harmful bacteria and organisms
- Reduce inflammation in the body
- Help Acne
- Help skin conditions such as eczema and rashes
But I wasn’t convinced and it didn’t sound like a nice thing to do. Finally my dad tried oil pulling and convinced me that it wasn’t so bad. I decided to try it, and much to my surprise it was very, very tolerable, and somewhat pleasant. But what was extremely pleasant were the results. After one time of oil pulling, I noticed that my teeth were clean and smooth; cleaner and smoother than brushing had done for them. I also noticed immediately that my teeth were whiter. I wasn’t sure if this could be possible, so I kept doing the oil pulling to see if it really was working or if I was just imagining things. Much to my surprise, it continued to whiten my teeth and make my mouth felt cleaner than ever before: and that is saying a lot because I’m an avid brusher. I have an electric toothbrush and I use it often.
With so many potential benefits for health and whiter teeth and clean fresh mouth, oil pulling is one of my new favorites and I look forward to discovering what long-term benefits may come as a result. I encourage you to give it a try and see for yourself if your mouth does not feel cleaner and your teeth do not look whiter.
